THE “LOST” TRIBE OF MEN
We all know how much men like maps. Statistically, way more than women, apparently. Have you thought about why that is? I believe it’s because, as a group, we are way more “lost” than the other gender. Not only are we lost, but we don’t like to admit that we are. How often are women more likely than men to ask for directions when in a new situation? Men would rather just work things out themselves, possibly with the aid of their map. It may sound like gender-stereotyping, but many stereotypes have some foundation in actual truths. It’s likely a remnant of a more macho phase of existence that was tied to a big hunter-gatherer responsibility. Finding food, protecting the tribe, providing shelter….the works. So, as the biggest annual celebration of this manly position, Father’s Day, approaches, consider the men you know and whether they are in quietly-desperate need of a map to help them along. At least for the east coast of the US, we (coastalartmaps.com) have got you well covered, starting in Texas, and then Florida to Maine. Let the men in your life know that you are concerned for them and want to help them find their way. A new map will surely be appreciated and treasured as they continue on their life road.
