PANDEMIC YEAR 2

As we approach the second full Holiday Season of these continue-to-be-challenging times, it’s numbingly daunting just what to say. The upbeat news is that “we’re still here” (tip of the hat to Sondheim’s Follies) and I was able to still do 2 new maps, one, a re-work of Eastern Long Island and two, a brand new one of the Newport area. It was very calming to achieve something satisfying and familiar during such a chaotic period. At a time of such uncertainty and loss, it’s good to find something to anchor you. During the passing milestones of the different Holidays, viewing time like the ancient mariners of the past is instructive. Mostly they had no idea where they were going or how long it would take to get there, and they had no real road map. Yet they persevered and faced the many challenges and survived. Maps help us, at least for me, remember these very human lessons as we all look for renewed inspiration each day. So wrap yourself in a good map for the Holidays and keep moving towards the light at the end of the tunnel. Land ho!
