Our first map away from the East Coast of the US is of the Coastal Bend along the Gulf of Mexico in Texas. Situated about 150 miles south of Houston, this area above Corpus Christi represents the aquatic resorts of Rockport, Aransas and numerous other shore-related communities as well as the popular Padre, Mustang, St. Joseph (San Jose) and Matagorda Islands. The area is a boating paradise with numerous grand bays and other bodies of water and many of the communities feature significant marinas and inlets. The landforms themselves present stunning natural topographies which are highlighted by their contrast with all the diverse water features
